Hi,

This might sound like a stupid question, but how do you get the CamPermanent Web Server to work under XP or Windows 2003?

I have installed CamPermanent first on a Win 2003 box and could not get it to work, then I tried a XP box and got the same error.

On both systems I have IIS running on port 80 for development purposes and if I select port 80 on the Web Server screen and try and start it, I get an error saying the port is already in use and can't be created (which I expected to happen).
If I select a different port, the Web Server starts, but if I try and browse the server on the specified port I get the "page could not be found" type of error.
I've also tried stopping IIS and then assigning port 80 to the Web Server with no luck either.

I'm not getting any onscreen errors or errors in the evenlogs either.
TCPView shows me that campermenent.exe is listening on port 81 (my alternate test port) and changes to port 8080 if I change the port to port 8080.
Windows firewall is enabled and the exception for campermanent.exe was created during installation. Turning the firewall off makes no difference either.

Where am I going wrong or does the web server not function in the shareware version?
Any pointers/input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Jacques

Hello,

the webserver works in the trial (shareware) version.

It's necessary to use an unused port. But you have already done this.

In general it's very easy to use the webserver,
have you tried the included sample htm documents?

I'm having the same problem.... I downloaded the shareware, started the webserver. Then on the same PC, I typed:
http://127.0.0.1
And got nothing. I also tried http://127.0.0.1/cam_view1.htm
I don't have a software or hardware firewall and I can run other local webservers on my PC.
Is there something obvious that we're missing?

I also tried setting up a server & client ... the client connected to the server, but it said "no cameras" and I have one camera in the server that works in the preview and I selected "send to server" for it.

I think something's wrong with the server code.

Ahhh... I got the client/server to work. I needed to select "start server" AND "start client" on the server.
