Hey Folks,

I'm running CamUniversal 3.4 on a Windows XP Pro box (2 GB RAM, 765 MB free), with five IP cameras enabled. All of the cameras work fine except a Vivotek FD6112. After a seemingly random amount of time running, the Preview window for this camera stops updating. It doesn't go blank or display the "unable to connect" message, just continues to show the last static image it picked up before the freeze. When this happens, the Motion Detector stops working as well. The main CamUniversal application window shows that images are still being tested for motion, but no amount of motion in front of the camera will trigger motion capture.

Connecting directly to the camera via its Web interface shows that the camera is running and that the JPEG images that CamUniversal pulls from the camera are updating properly. The camera is running the most current firmware, and none of my other cameras (Trendware, Intellinet, Axis) are having this problem. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

Uncle Andrew

Hello,

please run CamUniversal with the parameter -analyze.
The protocol file analyze.txt will be created.
Open a console and type> CamUniversal -analyze
In the protocol file analyze.txt you will see some messages from the program.
Run CamUniversal until the error happens and send the created procotol to me!

For those who might be interested, Marc and I have been corresponding by email. He helped me to determine that the problem was probably on my end, and after some more investigation I determined that a repeater on my wireless network was causing very long pings, in the range of 1200 milliseconds. Once I isolated the buggy repeater and fixed the problem, the preview window started updating normally.

Thanks again, Marc! Mr. Green
