Replaced my DVR card recently and so far have not found a way to make the new one function with CamUniversal (but would really like to, as I do not like the software that came with it).

New card is 8ch real time PCI-E h.264 that does use Direct X (full specs are here- http://www.wave-p.com.cn/en/productsc-8.htm ). My last card showed in Device Manager under Imaging Devices, and with a camera attached was found by CamUniversal. This card instead only appears under Sound, Video and Game Controllers, and is not seen by CamUniversal.

Any thoughts or info?

Thanks-

Hello,

you can try to build a DirectShow filtergraph for your device first.

For this you can use the graphedit tool from the DirectX SDK or for example the opensource tool GraphStudio
http://blog.monogram.sk/janos/tools/mon ... aphstudio/

For both tools:
1. Try to insert a filter which uses your device.
In general a video device is listed in the filter category "Video Capture Sources". Select this category, select your device and insert it.
2. From the category "DirectShow Filters" insert a video renderer.
3. Then you have both filters inserted. You can connect (by mouse) the output pin of the video device "capture/or preview" with the input pin of the video renderer. If the connection is done you can run the filtergraph!
If this works you have build a valid DirectShow filtergraph.

In your case I guess you will have problems with 1. because your video device driver is not a normal "Video Capture Source" filter.
Try to find the driver of your device in another category and if found insert it.

Additonal perhaps the manufacturer of your card has separate DirectShow filters for downloading!!

Marc, I appreciate the info, but with everything else I've got going on I don't think I want to get into dealing with customizing something and likely having all kinds of problems along the way. I'd much rather just start over and buy another card that will work properly. This one puts out very good quality images, but I dislike their software, it only emails through Outlook which I will not use, would get zero or little aid with any filter options and it lacks the flexibility of CamUniversal. I would definitely want minimum 8 channels real time, and this would be installed in a PC dedicated for this purpose; any suggestions?

Went looking for a different card and instead stumbled onto an incredible deal on an Integral Tech DS RealVue Xpress, so I should be all squared away now.
